The LaserJet 8150 Printer - A Sturdy Workhorse

The HP LaserJet 8150 Printer w/ LaserJet 8150 toner cartridge is new on the market and provides better service than comparably sized printers. It is mass-produced but has the advantage of being able to deal with a large amount of printing. It uses multifunction products (MFPs) and dry electrophotgraphic (DEP) technology to improve its multi-tasking ability. Not really made for a small business, it will suit a larger concern perfectly.

The printing and imaging technologies in the HP LaserJet 8150 allow access to internet solutions. HP is one of the first to have provided the ChaiServer Embedded Virtual Machine (EVM) programming environment allowing the use of Java (TM) applications. The machine can run a range of internet custom applications. EVM is available to customers as downloadable freeware from HP's website.

If you need to do things like search the web for specific topics and print them, the EVM technology will enable you to do this. You can access the software through any web browser as the software is embedded in the printer's server. The printer can be re-configures or reports accessed via this software. Remotely managing the system is possible by using the HP Web JetAdmin software.

Handling up to 150,000 pages a month is very easy for the printer that pumps out 32 pages a minute. The quality is very good as the printing is 1200 dpi. A 250 MHz processor with 32 MB of memory and the HP FastRes 1200 technology allow tasks to be managed simultaneously. This avoids the overload of too much too fast that other printers suffer from.

You will need to store more paper if you are going to print large volumes of documents, which is provided with 3,100 page tray capacity. Projects can be organized logically due to the attachments for stacking and stapling handling up to 3,000 sheets. The standard output receiver takes 600 pages but the larger one can take 3,600 pages.

You will need a special platform for this weighty machine of 112 pounds. This printer is built as a cube with 29.5" sides making it totally inappropriate as a desktop printer. This is a stand alone that is perfect placed centrally in a large room of people.

No host computer is needed as it will connect directly to the office router. The fast Ethernet option needs the connectivity of an HP Jetdirect EI print server. More networking possibilities are provided by two EIO slots. Older hardware connects via a parallel port based on IEEE 1284 bi-directional principles. Wireless servers can be used bypassing messy networking cables.

Capabilities can be customized for each customer. An expanded memory capacity, a 3.2 GB hard drive and a LANfax are possibilities. An onsite 1 year warranty guarantee constitutes a package with all cables and a 20,000 page HP LaserJet compatible toner. Driver, installation files and printing software are available on a CD-ROM and a user's guide and information package are included.

There are some special features that are lacking but the great selling point is truly its incredible speed at putting out documents for big jobs. An excellent HP LaserJet 8150 cartridge means that no reprints will be needed and the quality is enhanced from the first page printed from a cartridge to the last. The ability to order toner online will provide a wonderful cost savings. The HP LaserJet 8150 Printer is well priced for a superb workhorse of a machine.
